"Dakota is a womban who is deeply passionate about working with [birthing people] in various ways. She shows up wherever she is serving with her full heart, vast range of knowledge, ancient womban wisdom, rooted intuition, humble enthusiasm and profound capacity to be present. I deeply trust Dakota as she deepens on her path of serving [people] throughout these sacred thresholds of life." ~Jennie G

Hi there! My name is Dakota Hindman. I'm a queer, cis-gendered woman of mixed-European descent living in Boulder, CO on stolen Arapahoe, Cheyenne and Ute territories. I have been nannying for most of my life and have been attending births as a doula, traditional birth-keeper and student midwife/midwife assistant since 2012. I eat, drink and dream birth - I truly am a birth nerd and am extremely passionate about supporting families through the childbearing continuum. When I'm not at a birth, nannying or in ceremony, you'll find me in a natural hot springs, sitting in women's circles and cooking with probably way too much ghee :)

When I was in high school, my mother gave me Ina May Gaskin's famous book, "Spiritual Midwifery". After leafing through its pages and seeing image after image of hippies on The Farm birthing their babies in buses, I knew at that moment that I needed to be a midwife. I knew I needed to work with families during one of the most transformational experiences in life. It is deep within my bones that I am called to hold space for birthing families. I started at a young age and did everything I could to gain a broad spectrum of experience to make me the best doula and student midwife I could be.

My trust in the process of birth lays the foundation for the space I hold. I am guided to work quietly, patiently. I call forth a container of listening and receiving to hold a space of safety, love, and trust so that my clients can invoke the strength and courage needed to birth their babies.

I have attended births from the hot, thick air of Bali, Indonesia to yurt-births on farms in rural Vermont to high-intervention hospital births all over the US. I have also held space for loss and grief and am passionate about full spectrum work, as well. I have gathered many different tools from many great experiences, teachers and families on my path and I am humbled.

I am humbled by the power of birth and death, by the power of birthing people and their families bringing their legacy into this world with so much courage and grace. I am humbled -- and ready to serve. I look forward to hearing from you.
